Jessica Preeg joined Simon Element in 2021 as the Deputy Director of Publicity. Most recently, she was at Amazon Publishing, where she led publicity for Amazon Original Stories. Prior to that, she spent over 10 years at St. Martin’s Press as the Assistant Director of Publicity. Jessica has played a key role in launching bestselling campaigns for our titles such as Jessie Inchauspe’s The Glucose Goddess Method, Carissa Stanton’s Seriously So Good, and Laura Dave’s The Night We Lost Him. She has secured features for our authors in prominent publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Time Magazine. Additionally, she has booked our authors on national broadcast and notable podcasts, such as CBS Sunday Morning, NBC's The Today Show, ABC's Good Morning America, The Drew Barrymore Show, NPR, 10% Happier, Armchair Expert, among others. We believe that publicity and marketing campaigns for our authors must be tightly coordinated and executed in concert with one another. In addition to overseeing and executing national publicity campaigns for our titles, Jessica works to ensure a holistic approach to our publications, integrating every aspect of the promotional campaign.
Elizabeth Breeden joined Simon Element as Senior Director of Marketing in August 2022. She works closely with the sales, production, editorial, and publicity departments and oversees all marketing for the imprint. Previously, Elizabeth spent nine years with the Simon & Schuster imprint, beginning as an editorial assistant before moving to the marketing team in 2015, where she planned and executed campaigns for multiple New York Times bestselling novelists, including The Last Thing He Told Me author Laura Dave, The School for Good Mothers author Jessamine Chan, Jessica Knoll, Alice Hoffman, Mary Higgins Clark, Lauren Weisberger, Megan Miranda, and Nelson DeMille, as well as nonfiction bestsellers by authors such as Jerry Seinfeld, Rebecca Traister, Susan Orlean, Alex Trebek, and Hillary Clinton. Elizabeth holds a degree in English literature from Smith College and a certificate in publishing from the Columbia School of Journalism, and has previously taught in the publishing master’s degree program at New York University. She’s lived in nine cities across four continents and loves hosting dinner parties and exploring Manhattan with her rescue dog, Jean Paul.
Alyssa DiPierro joined Simon Element as Senior Marketing Manager in April of 2024. Previously, she spent three years with the Simon & Schuster imprint, where she was the marketing lead on a variety of titles including I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy (an instant #1 New York Times bestseller with over one year on the New York Times bestseller list), The House of Eve by Sadeqa Johnson (a Reese’s Book Club Pick), and Down the Drain by Julia Fox. At the Simon Element imprint, she was the marketing lead on Preppy Kitchen Super Easy by John Kanell (an instant New York Times bestseller) and The King Arthur Baking Company Big Book of Bread. A graduate of the New School with an MFA in writing from New York University, Alyssa previously served in the rights department at InkWell Management and as a freelance marketer. An avid vegan cook of nearly a decade, you can also find her running on the West Side of Manhattan, or at home with her husband and rescued senior cats.
Ingrid Carabulea joined Simon Element in October 2021. She works across the Simon Element and Marysue Rucci Books imprints on lifestyle, culinary, prescriptive and narrative nonfiction, and commercial and literary fiction marketing campaigns. Past campaigns include New York Times bestsellers Tasting History by Max Miller, Somebody Feed Phil the Book by Phil Rosenthal, and An American in Provence by Jamie Beck, the national bestseller Rouge by Mona Awad, Shark Heart by Emily Habeck, and Made in Taiwan by Clarissa Wei. She’s a graduate of the University of Southern California and interned at Writers House and W. W. Norton prior to joining Simon Element.
Francesca Carlos joined Simon Element in 2024 as a Marketing Manager. She specializes in product and brand marketing, partnerships, strategic content planning, and data research and reporting. She's worked on extensive marketing campaigns for culinary and lifestyle titles, such as Treasures of the Mexican Table; The Cookie Bible; Bigger Bolder Baking Every Day; The Red Boat Fish Sauce Cookbook; Women, Food, and Hormones; and the Betty Crocker brand cookbooks. Francesca previously held positions in the marketing divisions of HarperCollins, IndieWire, and the future of agency LLC.
She graduated from Barnard College, where she majored in history, with a concentration in American history in 1968. An avid bookworm, baker, tennis player, and moviegoer, you can definitely find Francesca at Rizzoli Bookstore, IFC Center, or Astoria Park.
Ali Kochik joined Simon Element in 2023 as a Marketing Assistant to Elizabeth Breeden. She graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English and minors in journalism and women’s and gender studies. She spent time as a staff writer, Op-Ed Editor, and Managing Editor for the university newspaper, as well as working as a Peer Educator for the campus Center for Women and Gender Equity. Here, she launched a diversity-focused book club which challenged students to interact with #OwnVoices stories across all genres, and allowed them to take part in events with visiting authors. Prior to joining Element, she spent time as a freelance editor for local writers. She is a self-proclaimed bookworm and lover of all things literary.
Clare Maurer joined Simon Element and Marysue Rucci Books in 2023, where she spearheads lead fiction campaigns for the Marysue Rucci Books imprint, working with authors Megan Miranda, Laura Dave, Jessica Knoll, Paul Yoon, Mona Awad, Vanessa Chan and others, in addition to spearheading select narrative and prescriptive nonfiction campaigns for the Simon Element imprint. Before joining Simon Element, she executed lead fiction and nonfiction campaigns at Scribner, where she worked with authors including Jesmyn Ward, Kiese Laymon, Shonda Rhimes, Ken Jennings, Sidik Fofana, Oksana Masters, and Owen King. Prior to joining Simon & Schuster, she held publicity and marketing positions at St. Martin’s Publishing Group. She is a graduate of Monmouth University.
Stacy Reichgott joined Simon Element in 2024 and has spent much of her career in various roles under the communication sector including PR, marketing and most recently brand partnerships at Penguin Random House. At PRH, Stacy worked on brand partnerships for an array of New York Times bestselling book campaigns, including: Nicholas Sparks' New York Times bestselling Dreamland, the 9th novel in Diana Gabaladon's best-selling Outlander series, Go Tell the Bees That I am Gone and Jodi Piccoult's, Wish You Were. Prior to working at RHG, Stacy was a Senior Publicist at Hay House working with bestselling wellness authors such as Gabby Bernstein, Dr. Christiane Northrup and more. Stacy has had bylines of her own on wellness and all things motherhood in Well & Good, Business Insider, The Bump, Motherly, Kveller, and more.
Nan Rittenhouse joined Simon and Schuster in 2021. At Simon Element, she works across genres, including culinary, lifestyle, health & wellness, business, and literary fiction. She has led publicity campaigns for New York Times bestseller Tasting History by Max Miller, South of Somewhere by Dale Gray, No Longer Radical by Drs. Rachel Brem and Christy Teal, Stand By Me by Dr. Allison Applebaum, and more. Prior to joining Simon & Schuster, Nan interned at Hachette Book Group, Macmillan Publishers, PEN America, and Book Report Network, and she graduated from Fordham University, Rose Hill.
Grace Noglows joined Simon Element in 2023 as a Publicity Assistant to Jessica Preeg. She graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder with a degree in marketing and a certificate in global business from the Leeds School of Business. Prior to joining Simon Element, Grace interned at The Sawtooth Group and Orderleigh Home with positions in account management and social media. She is interested in books on cooking, health and wellness, relationships, and design.
Patrick Sullivan joined Simon Element at its launch in 2021 as art director. Prior to that, he was the art director at Tiller Press, another nonfiction Simon & Schuster imprint. Before returning full-time to the world of publishing, he was vice president and creative director for the Araca Group, a multimedia agency that designed for everyone from Ozzy Osbourne to Beyoncé.
Kristina Juodenas joined Simon Element in May of 2023 as Associate Art Director. Prior to joining Simon Element, she was an Art Director at Harper Collins for 4 years, and prior to that spent nearly 4 years as Art Director for Lonely Planet’s quarterly US Travel Magazine. She has nearly 15 years of experience in the design industry including a stint in gift book publishing where she created stationery and gift book products for multiple national mass-market brands. She is originally from Nashville, Tennessee and moved to New York in January of 2023 with her two cats.
Jenny Carrow joined Simon Element as Art Director in April 2024. She has over twenty years of cover design and art directing experience with past positions at Alfred A. Knopf; Harmony Books; Farrar, Straus & Giroux; and St. Martin’s Press. Jenny enjoys working across a diverse range of genres and has had the privilege of designing covers for notable authors including Edward St. Aubyn, Rick Bragg, Thomas L. Friedman, Tania James, Gretchen Rubin, and Amy Tan. Originally from Kentucky and a graduate of The Cooper Union, she currently lives in New Jersey with her husband and children.
Pamela Grant is the Senior Art Manager for Simon Element and Gallery Books with a career spanning over thirty years within Simon & Schuster, starting as a part-time temp in 1987. She is an alum of New York Institute of Technology (“GoBears!”) with a BA in communication arts and right before graduation in 1992, she was invited to work full time for the Pocket Books Imprint as an Ad/Promo Production Assistant. During those years, she honed in her skills of purchasing, marketing, and production—all responsibilities that prepared her for her move to the Gallery Books/PocketBooks/Atria Books Art Department in 2003.
In her creative command, she oversees licensing agreements; negotiates terms that respect artist rights, while providing guidance about their rights and responsibilities; monitors the authorized usage of all art reproduced; and is well-versed in copyright regulations but stays continuously updated on the ever-evolving legal landscape. She is whip-smart at solving problems, has no time for nonsense, and is the “go-to” person for anyone who has questions about anything.
Jen Wang tells stories visually. She brings her experience designing book covers, websites, and museum exhibitions to create bold, unique books for Simon Element’s food and lifestyle books. When not making books, she creates access to design opportunities in publishing through teaching, portfolio reviews, and mentorship programs.
Madelyn Rodriguez is a graphic designer with a background in brand identities, editorial design, and illustration. She earned her bachelor's degree in graphic design from San José State University and honed her skills through freelance work before gaining valuable experience as an art and design intern at Penguin Random House's Dutton imprint. Madelyn later joined Simon & Schuster's Scribner and flagship imprints before landing at Simon Element as a junior designer.
Michael Andersen joined Simon and Schuster in 2018 to help start the company’s cultural intelligence team. He was previously a vice president and director of strategy & analytics for Digitas Health. Before that, he taught advertising courses at Villanova University as an adjunct professor, helped launch Wired.com’s Decode blog, and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar. Michael writes about alternate reality games, escape rooms, puzzle hunts, and other forms of immersive entertainment for ARGN.com. At Simon & Schuster, Michael leverages data to assist authors and Simon Element colleagues in identifying opportunities that will connect our books with the right audiences at the right times.
Nicole Bond joined Simon & Schuster as Vice President and Director of subsidiary rights in May 2019 and is the Rights Director for Atria and Simon Element. She has worked in the rights departments of the Hachette Book Group and the Random House Publishing Group, and has handled the rights for authors such as Thomas Harris, Admiral William H. McRaven, Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Senator Edward M. Kennedy. A graduate of Barnard College, she started her career as a literary scout with Maria B. Campbell Associates.
Sara Bowne joined Simon & Schuster in 2014. She works with Nicole Bond and concentrates on licensing domestic rights for all Atria and Simon Element titles. She holds a BA in English from CUNY Queens College and a certificate in book publishing from NYU SCPS.
Rebecca Justiniano joined Simon & Schuster in November 2021 as a Subsidiary Rights Assistant for Atria Books and Simon Element. Before supporting Nicole Bond, Rebecca held a marketing internship with the independent publisher Hannacroix Creek Books, Inc., whose publications include a wide range of YA and children’s illustrated books, and was a bookkeeper for Abrams Fensterman, LLP. She earned a BA in creative writing from Adelphi University and a certificate in book publishing from the Columbia Publishing Course.
Jessie McNiel joined Simon & Schuster in 2018 and has been a member of the Simon Element team since 2022. She received her B.A. in English literature from Washington University in St. Louis and her M.F.A. from Columbia University. She oversees all titles from manuscript to finished book for Simon Element, Simon Acumen and Marysue Rucci Books.
Jesse Harris joined Simon Element in 2024 as a managing editorial assistant. She is a graduate of Colgate University, where she earned her degree in English and Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing and served as Editor-in-Chief of the university newspaper. Previously, she spent time at Soho Press, Apollo Publishers, and Triada US Literary Agency. She assists Jessie McNiel in overseeing all titles from manuscript to finished book for Simon Element, Simon Acumen and Marysue Rucci Books.
